Starting January 19th 2016 I will be leaving the nationally syndicated Russ Parr Morning Show and joining The Fam In The Morning on 93.9 WKYS FM in DC. Many congratulations go out to Russ Parr, Georgia Alfredas, Supaken and Albert on their move to Majic 102.3 in DC.
Just a few years ago I graduated from University of Maryland, College Park with a BA in broadcast journalism and no job in site. I decided to move a plane ride away from my family to work for minimum wage in one of the smallest media markets in the US. That wasn’t God’s plan. Two weeks after graduation, I received a call from Russ Parr himself offering me a spot on his crew. I had interned with Russ, but had no idea he even knew my first name. #ButGod
Today I know Russ Parr as my “media father.” He will forever be the man that took a chance on me and changed my life forever. It was a struggle making all my beginner’s mistakes in front of three million listeners. On more than one occasion there were tears and doubt, but being surrounded by veterans helped me grow so much that I honestly believe that, “I can do all things…(Philippians 4:13)”
Leaving Russ Parr to become an executive producer of a brand new show is one of the things Russ and the crew has prepared me for. I’m walking into my future confidently. I am excited to bring a new, fun, fresh, “never before seen”show to DC and eventually to the world. I honestly couldn’t think of any two people I’d rather work with than DJ Quicksilva and Lil Mo. Well except Oprah since we’re being honest, but I’ll get there one day. To all Russ Parr listeners who actually know I exist I will miss you so much as you heard me grow over the years. I hope everyone continues to support me because all my “followers,” listeners and of course friends and family keep me going. Stay tuned because Quick, Mo and I truly have something special.
